About

Through tears... wisdom

I am the mother of two boys (one typically developing and one non-typically developing) and a stepmother of two. I had postpartum depression and anxiety in 2005, after the birth of my first son. In 2006, I co-founded Brooklyn PPD Support, where I led peer support groups and offered individual counseling and referrals for treatment to pregnant and postpartum women for a decade. I have made numerous media appearances (WNYC/NPR, CBS local news, print interviews), and was honored to receive the first Community of Caring Award from the Postpartum Resource Center of NY in 2013. In 2022 I became a certified perinatal mental health therapist through Postpartum Support International. I am trained in EMDR, ACT and PACT (Stan Tatkin's Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy). I am trained in administering and coding the Adult Attachment Projective. For me, being a therapist is a lot like being a parent. I don't have all the answers and I never will. In both roles, I'm committed to showing up every day with the interest and the desire to be focused, informed, and genuine. I will always be learning and fine-tuning my approach to therapy. As an old neighbor in Brooklyn used to say, "We're never done, are we?"
